Due to the absolutely second to none brave flight performance
and good looking appearance of our big Waco
we had already decided some time ago to built a quarter scale
version for our customers who do not like it such big
as third scale is for what ever reason. Development
of the quarter scale version was slower (due to orders) than
scheduled but finally we made it. Flight testing was uneventful
as expected, the flight performance and - behaviour of the
“little” Waco
is absolutely comparable to that of its elder brother. Sure it
will have a great future. Design, detailing, quality and number
of parts are exactly the same as they are for the third scale
version, except ball bearings have been deleted. All parts have
been reduced to quarter scale size but not the turnbuckles. Due
to the expected flight loads we took the same 3mm version as for
the 1/3 one.
To ease transportation
we stayed with the four wing panel system accepting the
weight penalty.
Aerobatics are for the smaller version as small a problem as
they are for the bigger version. You may be doing it even better
because it will be much easier and less expensive to go for a
better weight to power ratio.
